Pulwell has pioneered
the F.R.P. pultrusion as well as pullwinding process in their quest for the
ultimate batten. The naturally superior advantages of our pultruded sail
battens are:

The highest glass
reinforcement percentage (approx. 78%) of any F.R.P. manufacturing process,
resulting in maximum stiffness for weight.
¡òSpecially formulated resins for high
stress application.
¡òLower pigment
levels to avoid degrading the cure and reducing the strength properties of the
matrix. The Vinylester formulation has no pigment to mask quality
control and reduce cure and strength properties.
¡ò The epoxy-like properties
and lower molecular weight of
Vinylester battens make their extra
cost negligible when
considering their superior
durability in high stress applications.
¡òOptimized profiles to provide a low mass,
low profile batten and to allow infinite shapeability.
¡ò 
Pullwound tubes incorporate glass and
carbon/glass, hybrid fiber reinforcements in a tough epoxy resin. The precision
placement of pre-stressed fibers in continuous axial and biaxial plies optimize
the stiffness, durability, transverse and bending strengths. The inherent
flexibility and memory of the composite tubes dampen the effect of overpowering
windloads and reflex to maintain an efficient sail shape.
